How to Make a Club Sandwich

Remember, Remember the 11th of November. Tame Valley Tennis & Squash Club certainly will. In 2017 our brand new courts were opened. Tennis in Saddleworth would never be the same!
And then, a week later, the rains came. Bringing with them floods,
And a thick layer of dirt.
The Saddleworth’s first brand new tennis courts in more than twenty years were swamped. Luckily, members were on hand to help. Draining, scrubbing and sluicing away the worst of the damage. Disaster averted. Or so we thought…

Water Damage

The courts weren’t the only part of the club to be damaged. The shed roof collapsed, the toilets exploded and water gushed into the kitchen area. Ruining carpets, cupboards and expensive electrical equipment. A disaster, but there was one benefit…

Cooking on Gas!

We now have a brand new kitchen area!
Fitted work surfaces, cabinets, units and more-than-enough storage space. Installed, free of charge, by members ‘Gregsy’ Gregson and ‘Flash’ Ashton. If you see them in the bar, please, buy them a drink. And take a moment to admire their handywork. It looks stunning.

Sandwich Facilities

A band new oven isn’t our only investment. We have a brand new sandwich toaster! And what tennis club would be complete, without a club sandwich?
A meal in one go, we’re talking about a stacked sandwich, with enough meat and salad to keep anyone happy – Except vegetarians/vegans, but stay tuned and we’ll post another recipe soon.

The Club Sandwich, Made Easy

So, how to make one…
All the utensils and machinery you’ll need can be found in the club’s kitchen

  3. Grill a chicken breast until cooked.
  4. Slather butter or mayonnaise on your bread (If using).
  5. Add chicken, tomato and lettuce to first slice of bread.
  6. Add slice of bread on top.
  7. Add bacon, tomato and lettuce.
  8. Slather with BBQ sauce (If using)
  9. Add final slice of bread.
  10. Or, add further layers (See above)
  11. Skewer the whole thing with either cocktail sticks or a novelty miniature sword to hold it together.
  12. Eat!
