What is Tennis Without Strawberries and Cream?

Carrying on a Tradition, Locally.

Food For Thought
What is it with sport and food? Football has its pork pies. Cricket has its cucumber sandwiches. And yes, tennis has strawberries and
cream. Or at least, at Wimbledon it does. Food is part of the experience.
Tennis in Saddleworth may be far removed from the thrust and parry of Centre Court, but the mechanics of the game remain the same. Thus, so do the foodstuffs. Let’s talk about those strawberries.

Buy Local

Strawberries have been tradition since the first Wimbledon tournament in 1877. Spectators munch their way through an estimated 23 tonnes of strawberries and 7,000 litres of cream each year. Bought from stands throughout the grounds. And now, Saddleworth’s tennis club can compete. In the refreshments stakes at least.
In association with J Stanford Groceries on Greenbridge Lane, you can now get your strawberry fix at Tame Valley. Tennis in Saddleworth will never be the same!

Bar None

A range of refreshments are available at Tame Valley’s club. And, with our brand new kitchen facilities - yes, we’re still crowing about those - you can even help yourself. So whether you’re all strawberries & cream or Del Monte & Tip Top, Tame Valley Tennis Club has the facilities to provide for you. We’ll see you on court!
